Year 2’s - Fantastic Friday

A great way to end the week! In Year 2, we had a Fantastic Friday full of exciting activities. We had a very tricky maths lesson where we looked at flexibly partitioning numbers. To partition numbers in different ways was difficult but the children made great progress. We will continue our work with partitioning at the beginning of next week. Before lunch, we enjoyed our daily handwriting and our focus now is to transfer our improving handwriting skills into our other work. The afternoon consisted of a great P.E lesson where we recreated movements from the story ‘Zog’. This was great fun and the children became very competitive. We saw who could jump the furthest whilst being able to land and balance with two feet. A lovely day to round off the week!

Foodie Friends Funtime Club- Years 3 and 4

Our young chefs from Years 3 and 4 made microwave peanut butter and jam brownies today in the Foodies Friends Funtime afterschool Club. The children worked in small groups and followed a recipe. They first discussed the importance of washing their hands and making sure the surface was clean to work on. They then carefully weighed the ingredients and made the mixture. They then poured their well-prepared mixture into a glass dish and popped it in the microwave for 5 minutes. They had an absolute blast and can't wait to come back next week.

Year 1 Maths

Year 1 have been counting forwards and backwards in their maths lessons this week. They have been completing unfinished sequences using their knowledge of counting forwards and backwards to help them. They have had to write the numbers as both numerals and as the written word. They have enjoyed playing true and false games such as, ‘Will I say the number 7 if I count forwards from 8?’ Or ‘Will I say the number 2 if I count backwards from 5?’ They have also had to solve problems such as, ‘What number will I not say if I’m counting forwards from 6?’ Or ‘What numbers will I say if I’m counting backwards from 2?’

Year 5 - Interpreting line graphs

This week in year 5 the children have been finishing off their statistics unit. They have been focusing really hard on interpreting and drawing the appropriate graph that would represent the data that has been provided for them. The children were able to spot patterns, infer and make educated estimates based on the trajectory of the graph or bar chart. Year 5 worked extremely hard on their presentation to ensure that their work is tidy and clear for the reader.

First day in Year 3

Year 3 were super excited about reuniting with their friends and talking about what they did over the summer. The children couldn't wait to go out for a break in the KS2 yard and have fun on the trim trail. They also visited the school library to select books for their personal reading enjoyment in the classroom. Alongside this, we created our own classroom rules, building upon the four golden rules Mrs. Ham highlighted during this morning's worship. In the afternoon, the children went on a shape hunt around the school, identifying, drawing and labelling the different shapes that make up the objects they find in everyday objects. For example, a door shaped like a rectangle, a classroom window shaped like a square and the netball goal ring shaped like a circle.
