Year 4 Tennis Competition
A huge well done to Carter, Eliza, Ivy and Ted who competed in a tennis competition at Blackburn Northern Tennis Club this afternoon. This was the very first time the children had played on a tennis court and they approached each game with lots of enthusiasm. We are so proud of them all and they tried their very best in each game. They represented our school with pride and positivity and came 3rd overall. Well done! A huge thank you to Mrs Wilkinson for supporting and umpiring and to the parents who collected.

Reception- practising our ball skills
The children initiated a game of catch where they made a circle and called someone’s name before throwing the ball to them to see if they could catch it. More and more children joined the circle and enjoyed the game of catch.
Year 5 - Year of Prayer
Today, Year 5 took part in their Year of Prayer, focusing on following the guidance given by Jesus. As part of the reflection, the children followed a series of lines and various markings on the playground that symbolised the path Jesus sets for us. This activity represented different aspects of His teachings—such as love, forgiveness and courage—encouraging the children to think deeply about how they can follow His example in their daily lives. This meaningful activity helped them reflect on the choices they make and how they can strive to live life in all its fullness—by showing kindness, compassion and remaining faithful to their values.

Year 4 - English: Recapping Our Residential
Our first English lesson of the summer term was an “experience” session. We began by looking through some of the pictures from our trip to the Anderton Centre. We shared our memories and our favourite parts of the trip. We then worked in groups to write down these fond memories about 6 main areas: preparation, facilities, team games, archery, climbing and paddle boarding. All of this is in preparation for creating persuasive leaflets about visiting the Anderton Centre.
Year 2 - Striking and Fielding
This week, we concluded our striking and fielding sessions. We continued to practise the skill of hitting the ball in isolation and the progress we have made over the last 7 weeks is superb! We moved into a games similar to rounders were the children hit the ball and tried to make it around the cones before the ball was returned to the hoop. The children started to think strategically and used tactics. They decided, to give them the best chance of making it round they should aim for the gaps in between the fielders so it would take them longer to put the ball in the hoop. The children have really enjoyed playing these games and have been able to use their new skills to help them in a game environment.
