Year 6 - Easter Artwork
Today, our Year 6 class took a trip to the Rose Garden at Whitehall Park to admire the amazing artwork on display. It was fantastic to see contributions not only from Year 6, but from pupils across the whole school. The artwork, inspired by different crosses, showcased a wide range of creative ideas, patterns and meanings, making it a truly special and thoughtful exhibition. The setting of the gardens made the experience even more enjoyable and the children were incredibly proud to spot their own pieces and share the inspiration behind their work with friends. A big well done to all our pupils for their dedication and creativity.
Easter Church Service
A Joyful Easter Celebration! What a wonderful morning we had at our Easter Church Service! The atmosphere was filled with energy, reflection, and community spirit. Highlights from the Service: The Easter Story: Our talented teachers took to the stage to act out the Easter story. Global Perspectives: We were so impressed by Key Stage 2, who shared their beautiful and diverse "A Cross the World" project. Joyful Voices: We sang our hearts out to all the favourites, from the rhythmic Lord of the Dance and Give Me Oil in My Lamp to the moving When I Think About the Cross. The Grand Finale: We finished on a high note with a high-energy rendition of He is Alive! A Huge Thank You To all the parents and carers who joined us today: thank you for your support. We wish all of our families a peaceful and happy Easter break!

Year 2 visit the Rose Garden
Our Year 2 class enjoyed visiting the Rose Garden to admire the A Cross the World art work produced by each class. The artwork will be up over the Easter holidays for families to enjoy.
Year 2 - RE The Eucharist
In Year 2 we learned about the Eucharist and how it links to The Last Supper. We learned that the bread represents Jesus' body and the wine represents His blood.

Reception RE: The Easter Story
Today we talked about the Easter Story and its importance to Christians and the church. They then created Easter cards with paint and expressed love to each other.
Year 4 - Visit to the Rose Garden
At the start of Holy Week, the Year 4 class walked to the Rose Garden to create our Easter art gallery and then explore each class’s work. This year, each class took part in the A-Cross the World project. They chose a cross from a different part of the world and used it for inspiration to decorate their own crosses. After spending some time exploring the crosses in pairs, the Year 4 children took part in a quiz to locate specific crosses based on information from the background story or the technique used to create them. They had a great time exploring and choosing their favourite crosses.
Year 3- R.E- The Pharisees and the Disciples: A Story of Mixed Emotions
Building on our work from last week, we spent this afternoon diving deeper into the "Pathway of Emotions" within the Easter story by first reflecting on the range of feelings we experience in our own lives, from the excitement of a birthday to the frustration of a broken toy. We used these personal connections to explore the complex emotional layers of Holy Week, specifically identifying the tension and opposition shown by the Pharisees. The children noted how the presence of the Pharisees added an atmosphere of conflict, suspicion, and anger to otherwise celebratory scenes like the Triumphant Entry. We concluded that the Easter story is much more than just "happy or sad," It is a mix of many feelings: the disciples were afraid, the Pharisees did not approve, and there was a strange but hopeful mystery to it all.
Year 6 - Easter Art
For our Easter service, Year 6 created an Austrian cross inspired by Aboriginal designs. The children used warm-coloured tissue paper to add vibrancy, alongside black tissue paper to form striking outlines and patterns. This creative piece reflects both the significance of Easter and the rich artistic inspiration behind their work.
Year 5 - RE
In RE, we continued our study of the Easter story. After summarising the story, each child chose six key elements of the story to draw a picture of and explore its significance to Christians or the Easter story. The focus was on the theme of Jesus’ victory over death and sin alongside children’s personal connections to the story.
Year 1 RE: Easter Story
Today, Year 1 retold the events of the Easter story through freeze frame drama. We told the story of Palm Sunday, Last Supper, Jesus is arrested, Good Friday, the tomb and the Resurrection. We discussed why the Easter story is important to Christians and how this links to new beginnings. The children had to choose one part of the story that they thought was the most important and why.
Year 4 - RE: Forgiveness
This week, Year 4 children embarked on some philosophical enquiry into the meaning of forgiveness and its importance to God’s salvation plan. They watched the story of Peter and then acted out 3 key parts: his actions in the Garden of Gethsemane, his denial of Jesus and how Jesus forgave him. The children then acted these parts out in groups to create a dramatic class retelling. Following this, the children explored “forgiveness” as a BIG idea. They located it in the story and asked questions about the salvation plan. They then spent time exploring what forgiveness means to them, before creating metaphorical representations of this using Brusho paints, water spray bottles and Sharpies.
