Year 1 PE: Overarm Throwing
Yesterday, we practiced our overarm throwing skills. We practiced standing with our opposite leg forward and using our opposite arm to aim. We practiced throwing into hoops, on marker spots and through cones. They found it tricky but really persevered. Well done Year 1!
Year 3- P.E- Dance- Movement Through Moore's Masterpiece
In P.E. today, Year 3 immersed themselves in the festive world of Clement Clarke Moore's classic poem, "Twas the Night Before Christmas," through an exciting dance and movement session. The children began by setting the scene, transforming into snowflakes and then growing tall and majestic like Christmas trees, establishing a winter context. They used movement to become the inhabitants of the Christmas house, demonstrating the quiet and stillness before the main event. The children then created fantastic dance sequences to show the arrival of St. Nicholas (Santa Claus) and practiced galloping and soaring as his reindeer flying through the night sky. The second half of the session focused on the act of giving. The children used collaborative movement to help Santa Claus unload his sleigh and carefully fill the stockings with presents. The session concluded with a flourish: we watched Santa’s final, swift departure and enjoyed one last exhilarating ride across the floor as Santa's magnificent reindeer. Amazing listening and dancing from all the children. Well done!
Reception: Muddy Monday
Reception class really enjoyed their Muddy Monday walk to Jacks Key reservoir today. There were lots of muddy puddles to splash in which was great fun. The children had to jump over a stream which they all enjoyed and loved talking to each other along the way.

Year 5/6 Sportshall Athletics Trials
Our first Sportshall Athletics trial for Years 5 and 6 took place this week. The children mainly worked on their field events such as chest push, javelin, ling jump and triple jump. They developed their techniques by working on hip thrust and swinging their arms when jumping. We finished with sprint relays and the children really encouraged each other and thoroughly enjoyed the session.
Reception PE - Climbing & Jumping
This week we have been continuing to develop our jumping skills, but also introduced climbing. We have been building our resilience and courage to take safe risks when climbing. This helps us to build our upper body strength so we can develop our stamina for writing.
Year 1 PE: Gymnastics
Yesterday, our children became Superhero Gymnasts. We discussed our favourite superheroes, such as Thor, Captain America and Spider-Man, and noticed that they use gymnastics to help people. We became superhero’s and created our own superhero gymnastics sequence. We started by travelling through flames using bunny hop, caterpillar crawl, bear crawl or frog jump. Then we had to roll under lasers using egg roll, pencil roll or rock and roll. Once we safely got through the lasers we did our superhero pose (a three-point balance) and then rolled back through the lasers. Year 1 really enjoyed this sequence, especially with our superhero action music in the background.
Key Stage 1 Multi-Skills Festival
What a super morning we have had at the Key Stage 1 Multi- Skills Festival at St Bedes. The ten children from Year 1 had to move around the stations which involved a variety of physical activities that build fundamental movement skills like running, jumping, throwing, and catching, while also developing agility, balance, and coordination. These activities incorporated games and challenges that will improve the children's ability to work with others, follow instructions, and solve problems. At the end each school was awarded medals and the children were so happy and proud. A huge thank you to our Year 6 Sports Leaders for their support and encouragement.
Year 2 PE - Travelling and Rolling
