Reception PE - Street Dance
Reception enjoyed their first street dance lesson with Miss Jess. They learned some new ‘street’ moves such as bounce and rock, then practised putting these moves to music. We then practised putting some moves together at the end to perform in a small sequence.
Year 4 Gymnastics - Mirroring and developing a sequence
In our first gymnastics session, we looked at the theme of meeting and partnering. We developed problem solving skills to try out new ideas with our partner and use different solutions to make a good gymnastic sequence. We then worked on our mirrored shapes, developing how to travel as part of a sequence. We travelled on our feet, hands and jumped. Finally we evaluated our peer performances using our success criteria for a mirrored balance.
Year 4 PE - Using the Climbing Frame and new Gym Equipment
For our PE session today we incorporated all of the skills that we have learned over the past few weeks and transferred these into the new gym equipment. We also got the multi use climbing frame out to give the children more ways to explore travelling, changing position and direction, jumping and landing. It was a great session and all of the children loved it!
Year 4 - PE: Basketball with Edstart
Ahead of the basketball club starting in January, Edstart came in to lead a basketball skills session this week. The children thoroughly enjoyed practising dribbling and demonstrating chest passes and bounce passes. They showed great sportsmanship and fantastic teamwork. Well done Year 4!
Year 3- Edstart Basketball taster session
Year 3 had a great basketball taster session with Marcus from Edstart this afternoon. The children practised key skills, including dribbling, chest passes, and passing the ball to teammates. Two standout stars were: Bindi, who won the bottle for her encouraging words to her peers, and Isaac, who received a certificate for his outstanding effort throughout the session. The children were also excited to hear about a new afterschool basketball club starting in the new year, and Year 3 can’t wait to sign up!

Congratulations to Year 3 who have gained the most badges for the month of November for either walking, parking and striding or taking part in the 1K a day in school. It’s the second time that Year 3 have been awarded with the trophy so it shows how committed they are to active travel - well done!

Year 4 - PE: Gymnastics
We’ve been working on our rolls this week in PE in Year 4. We began by practising pencil rolls, teddy bear rolls and forward rolls and then we worked them into our duet routines. We are certainly brimming with skill and creativity in Year 4, and our unit theme of self-motivation was evident in the way we worked to perfect our skills.
Aladdin on Ice
Our whole school family watched Aladdin on Ice this afternoon at Planet Ice. We all got involved in lots of singing and dancing at the beginning. Santa, a snowman and even the Grinch made an appearance! During the show it was wonderful to see so many talented ice dancers and actors. We enjoyed a bag of sweets as a treat and some of us even got to high five members of the cast. A well deserved Christmas treat for all of our children.
