First Netball Club of 2025-2025 Season
What a super first netball club we had this evening after school. It was amazing to see such a great turn out and children really pushing themselves out of their comfort zones. Some brand new children to the game, some experienced but all there to have a fab time!
Year 2 PE- Moving, Jumping and Landing
This week in PE, Year 2 focused on developing their jumping and landing skills. They practised both straight jumps and star jumps, concentrating on using the correct technique. Pupils worked hard to land safely—on the balls of their feet, with bent knees and arms forward to help maintain balance. Well done, Year 2, for your fantastic effort and focus!
Year 1 PE: Gymnastics
In our Gymnastics unit, we practiced different jumps: star jumps, pencil jumps and tuck jumps. We then used this jumps to create a sequence which also incorporated holding a still shape and travelling, such as skipping, running or crawling.
Year 4 - PE: Passes and Dribbles
In our first Tuesday PE session, the Year 4s practised and showed off their new passing and dribbling skills. They learned about preparing to pass and stepping into the pass. They also learned how to use their fingers to bounce the ball with force. The children finished the lesson with a handball-style game to demonstrate their skill development.
Year 3- P.E-Tig Games Through Time
In P.E., Year 3 have been developing their skills in dodging and changing direction through a variety of tig games. We played Stuck in the Mud and a 1940s favourite, Hospital Tig. The children explored different strategies to avoid being tagged, such as quick changes of direction, bending their knees, and pushing off quickly to move away. They also practised safe tagging techniques and learned how to work together to free their classmates. Everyone enjoyed the challenge and showed great curiosity in exploring new ways to play.
Year 6 - Striking and Fielding
Today, Year 6 continued their cricket unit with a focus on batting technique. The children explored how adapting their stance and body position enables them to direct the ball into specific spaces, developing control, precision and strategic awareness in gameplay.
Year 3-Swimming Information & Kit List
This afternoon, our Year 3 class met with Nicola, a swimming instructor from Darwen Leisure Centre, to prepare for our upcoming lessons. The instructor answered all of the children's questions and explained what they can expect during their first session on Friday, September 12th.
Year 6 - Cricket
Today, Year 6 began their new cricket unit, with a focus on bowling skills. The children explored both underarm and overarm techniques, concentrating on accuracy and consistency when aiming at targets. They worked in pairs and small groups to practise their delivery, giving each other feedback and refining their technique.
Year 5 P.E
Year 5’s P.E unit for this half term is gymnastics. In this week’s lesson, the children began to develop gymnastics routines using a combination of mirrored and matched balances, counter-balances and travelling movements.
Year 4 PE - Learning Boccia Skills
In our PE session this afternoon, we were introduced to Boccia which is a precision ball sport. We practiced in smaller groups and tried to improve our precision. We tried to get the Boccia balls as close to the Jack as possible with the closest winning the game. The children became better and better over the course of the lesson and can’t wait to develop their skills even further in our next lesson.
Year 2 PE- Gymnastics and Fundamental Skills
In their PE lesson this week, Year 2 followed the theme of Jack and the Beanstalk. To retell various parts of the story, they had to combine gymnastics with fundamental skills such as balancing, overarm throwing and jumping two feet to two feet.
