Year 1 Maths
Year 1 have been making numbers between 10 and 20 on their bead strings. They have been looking at ways to do this with more efficiency e.g. for 17, you move 5 and 5 which is 10, then another 5 followed by a 2. Great work Year 1.
Reception: Maths
The children have been learning to recognise numbers and learning how to accurately draw the correct number of objects. We are blown away with their learning and how independent they are becoming when completing activities.
Year 1- 2D and 3D shapes.
Year 1 have been sorting 2D and 3D shapes in different ways. They sorted them in many different ways e.g. those that can and can’t roll, those that have triangular faces and don’t, those that have circular faces and don’t and those that have square faces and don’t.
Year 1 Maths- Making 3D shapes
Year 1 have been making 3D shapes in the construction area. They can recognise cylinders, cones, spheres, cubes, cuboids, triangular prisms, square-based pyramids and triangular-based pyramids.
Common Factors- Year 5
This week in maths, Year 5 have been using counters to find factors of a given number. They have worked in pairs to make arrays which helps them visualise and memorise. They then moved onto finding common factors of two numbers.
Maths- Adding lengths
Today in maths, Year 4 have been adding various measurements in our practical session and then we went onto converting different units of measurement. It was quite a challenge!
Reception: 2D shapes
This week the children have been learning all about circles and triangles. All of the children in reception have been on a hunt around school to find these shapes within their environment. They have been counting the corners and sides of the triangles, whilst noticing that a circle has just one curved edge.
Year 2 Maths- Bonds to 100!
As part of our Maths unit of Addition and Subtraction, Year 2 have been looking at Bonds to 100. We have explored how we can use our knowledge of number bonds 10 ten, to help us with our understanding of bonds to 100, using tens.
Reception Maths
Today, the children have been exploring different ways of making a number. We were blown away by their knowledge and how they explored how to represent different numbers.
Using inverse and multi-step problems
In Year 6, we have been working on multi-step problems to addition and subtraction word problems. Once we completed them, we have been using inverse operations to check them. The children have done amazingly well in grasping what is the important information in the word problems.
Addition and subtraction using different strategies
Today in Year 6, we have been using a variety of different methods to solve addition and subtraction problems. The children have applied bar models, place value grids and column methods to check their answers.
Year 1 Maths
Year 1 have been comparing numbers using the greater than, less than and equal to symbols. They have also been estimating the position of numbers on a number line.
