Year 3 Maths- Partitioning
In Year 3 Maths today, the children have practised partitioning numbers into thousands, hundreds, tens and zeros. Some children came up to the front and had a go at writing the numbers in front of the class. The children then had a go at challenging themselves by completing a partitioning worksheet.
Year 4 - Addition - practical and column method
In our maths lessons this week we have been using equipment to help us add two 4-digit numbers. We then moved on to using column addition to help us solve addition problems.
Year 2 - Mastering Numbers
Year 2 - Mastering numbers, quick challenges in maths for quick recall. All the children did amazingly well.
Reception counting to 5
Today Reception have been learning the correct way to count objects up to 5. We can count objects by touching them one at a time or by moving them as we say each number. We also talked about our ‘stopping number’ which is the last number we count in the set that tells us how many there are altogether. The children did so well and could remember how many they had counted altogether in each set.
Year 4 - Exploring Roman Numerals
We learned the Roman numerals to 100 this week in Year 4. We then used our knowledge to solve Tarsia puzzles, matching the Roman numerals to the correct number.
Reception: measuring
The aliens have landed in Reception. This week the children will be learning all about ‘aliens love underpants’. One mission the children are completing is to order some alien items. Super learning!
Year 3- Applying geometrical shapes when drawing.
Year 3 have carefully sketched an image of a Diet Coke can, thinking about how hard to press on the page with their pencil, noticing shading and also applying geometrical shapes to their pictures. Great work Year 3!
Year 1- Busy bees
Year 1 have really settled into their new school routine. We are so proud of them!
Year 4 - Counting in 1000s
On Tuesday in Year 4, we practised counting in thousands while having fun playing a ‘roll the dice’ game. I must say, we were rather good at it too. Congratulations to our top points scorers
Year 2 - Place Value
Year 2 exploring place value and building numbers using base 10.
Properties of Shapes- Year 5
In our maths lesson today, the children have been learning about regular and irregular polygons. They have been working in small groups identifying their properties and sorting them into regular and irregular polygons.
Year 4 - Investigating Symmetry
On Tuesday, our maths work involved using shapes, objects and mirrors to find lines of symmetry. Creating our own symmetrical flags was particularly challenging. We realised that accuracy was important in creating symmetry.
