Year 1 Food Technology
Today in their food technology lesson, Year 1 explored two types of cutting techniques. They practised the bridge cutting technique and fork secure cutting technique. This will help them to safely and successfully prepare their fruit for their healthy breakfast pots as part of the end outcome for this unit. Year 1 also did some fruit tasting so that they could express their preferences with regards to which fruit they would like to be included in their healthy breakfast pot. They tasted honeydew melon, grapefruit, peaches, pineapple and dried apricots as well as lots of other fruits. They will be giving these preferences to another member of the class who will be making their breakfast pot for them.

Year 2 - DT
In DT this week we finished our finger puppets! Last week, we; created the shape and size of our finger puppets, traced our shapes on to felt, cut the pieces of felt out and then stuck our pieces together using fabric glue. This week it was time to add the details of our finger puppets and make the characters come alive. This included googly eyes, mouths and some pointy ears for our wolves. The end results are superb and are definitely fit for purpose. The children should be very proud of the perseverance they showed to over come challenges.
Year 2 - DT

The children showed determination to complete the first steps of their puppet despite challenges along the way. Next week, we will add details to our puppets and evaluate our designs and making.

Today was the day we got to make our fruit kebabs for our Christmas fair! We had a very exciting afternoon as we created our healthy masterpieces. The children loved designing their kebabs in previous weeks and now using their plan to create a yummy and healthy snack for the Christmas fair. There was a lot of temptation to eat them before the fair but we managed to hold off so we could show everyone our amazing culinary skills. The children put a lot of thought into the colour and shape of the fruit they chose so they were suitable for the Christmas fair. They should be really proud of their final results.
