Year 4 - Linking Schools
As we began Phase 2 of our Linking Schools project, we spent some time considering what things in our world that we care about. We wrote our ideas on paper leaves ready to go on our class kindness tree.
Year 4 - Science: Volume and Amplitude
In Year 4 this week, our super scientists have been exploring changes in volume and using a decibel meter to measure amplitude. They had to drop a marble on a drum from different heights and observing any changes in volume.
KS2 Dinner time fun
This week we fancied mixing it up a bit on the yard, so we set our sports leaders a challenge to set up some different activities. The children have enjoyed playing dodgeball, having a mini sports day and playing with the equipment on the yard.
Year 4 English - Exploring Fact Files
In our English session this morning we have started our new Non-Fiction unit on Fact Files. We explored various examples all about the Vikings as this is what we are studying in our History lessons. We discussed what they are for, their purpose and what a good one looks like.
Year 4 History - Viking Chronology
In history today, we have been looking at key words to do with Viking invasion, matching these to their definitions. We then looked at a timeline placing events chronologically. The children worked extremely hard to develop their knowledge about the Viking invasion, what happened at Lindisfarne and how this impacted on following events.
Junior Librarians
Today, Annabel brought her favourite story to share with our librarians. The children really enjoyed listening to the story. You can find the 13 story treehouse in our library- why don’t you read it as I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as our librarians!
Year 4 - Science of Sound
In Year 4 this week, we have been investigating how sounds can change when they travel through different mediums: air, water and solid objects.
Year 4 - PE: Batting Skills
We have been developing our batting this week in PE, practising a straight drive. We used peer coaching to perfect our skills ready to play a game of ‘Runs and Catches’ at the end of the lesson.
Mental Health Parent Webinars
The week commencing 15th May is ‘Mental Health Awareness Week’. After much success of hosting some parent webinars back in February for ‘Children’s Mental Health Week’, the Mental Health Support Teams are rolling out some more. The topics for the week will be: My anxious child Helping with exam stress Psychoeducation around worry They’ll take place at 10am and 6pm, Monday 15th to Thursday 18th May and it’s for parents, teachers, carers, children and young people, in fact anyone can join.
Be a Baker Part 2 - Bread Making and Cooking
Be a Baker Part 2 when we rolled our bread into different shapes such as plaited, cottage, hedgehog and knotted. We then popped them in the oven for twelve minutes and voila! Amazing results Year 4.
Be a Baker Part 1 - Making the Dough
As part of Be a Baker unit, in our first practical session, we made the bread dough. We kneaded and folded it to make it nice and smooth. Then we left it to prove over lunch. We can’t wait to make it!
History - Why did the Vikings come to England and then settle here?
In our history lesson this morning, we have been looking at who the Anglo Saxons were and why the Viking’s came to invade and eventually settle in our homelands. We also mapped out their journey from Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
