Reception: Road Safety
Our Reception children learnt how to cross the road safely today. They stopped, looked and listened and then let Mrs Wilkinson know when it was time to cross safely. They were all very sensible, well done!
Year 2 - Acts of Kindness
In our PSHE lesson this week, we looked at various ways we can show kindness and recognise kindness in others. We read a story in which some characters were showing kindness and others did not. We discussed why we are kind and sometimes why we could be unkind. After, we gathered in a circle and took turns to share one kind thing about the person to our right. The children showed great respect, taking turns and listening to their friends. It was a lovely way to end to our day!
Year 3- PSHE- Making Smart Choices Online
Today in PSHE, we learned how to be smart online detectives! The children worked in groups to identify which statements were true or false about the trustworthiness of websites. We also discussed the importance of checking if information on websites is reliable. We learned to use tools like fact-checking, website checkups, looking for multiple sources, and asking adults for help. We also listed some of the websites we know, like YouTube, BBC News, Instagram, Snapchat and Roblox, and discussed how some websites are more trustworthy than others. Just like we wouldn't believe everything we read in a book, we should be careful about the information we find online.
Year 6 - Road safety workshop
Today, year 6 visited DACA for a road safety workshop. The children listened attentively and explored the importance of minimising distractions when walking to school. In a world that is surrounded by technology, it is very easy to get distracted, but it is really important to take precautions when we are near roads.
Year 1 - PSHE Pants Project
Today in PSHE we learned all about Pants Power and staying safe. We discussed who safe adults are that we can talk to both in school and at home. We then labelled parts of our bodies with the anatomically accurate labels. The children worked extremely hard to label their bodies and also remembered The Talk Pants Rules!
Year 4 - Maths: Three Times Tables
Teamwork was key in our maths session today. In celebration of No Pens Day, our maths included a combination of singing, matching, playing online games and puzzle solving. We learned the three times tables and used this knowledge to create fact families. Our extension activity today was to complete a three times table Tarsia. It proved to be more difficult than they first thought, but it certainly challenged them.

Reception: NSPCC PANTS Rule
In our PSHE lesson, our Reception class listened to the pantosaurus song and learnt all about the important of our private parts saying private. We discussed the 5 rules: 1. Privates are private. 2. Always remember your body belongs to you. 3. No means no. 4. Talk about secrets that upset you. 5. Speak up, someone can help.
Year 3- NO PENS DAY - Litter picking- Brainbox games-What can you remember in just 10 seconds?
Today, Year 3 celebrated No Pens Day thanks to our Smart School Council. They combined learning by litter picking, demonstrating teamwork, communication, and a strong sense of kindness and spirituality. They even discussed how God and the community would be pleased with their efforts. In the classroom, they paired up for a fun game of BrainBox, boosting their memory, observation skills, and understanding of math and reading. Oracy skills were embedded throughout the day, as students listened attentively, took turns to talk, and engaged in thoughtful discussions.
Year 6 - Parliament Week
On Friday, Year 6 rounded off ‘Parliament Week’ with a meeting with Baroness Wilcox of Newport. Baroness Wilcox started the session with a presentation about the House of Lords before answering some questions that the children had prepared prior to the session. Some of the questions were fantastic and a big thank you to Baroness Wilcox for answering them so openly and honestly.

Year 6 - Fire Service Visit
This week, year 6 were visited by the fire service. They recapped the learning that they received in year 2 and moved onto the topic of ‘Roadsense’. As year 6 move to secondary school, they will no doubt become more independent and may be trusted to walk to school. It is really important that they keep themselves safe and make sure they are visible and give roads their full attention.
