Grace & Isaac star in Les Miserables
Super proud of Grace and Isaac for their amazing performances in Les Miserables this evening at their opening night! It took so much courage to sing solos in front of a packed theatre audience and you both smashed it! Huge congratulations to the whole cast, you were sensational! It’s still Mrs Ham’s favourite musical and I think it’s now Mr Bloomfield’s!
Let's Go Sing 2026
* Pure Magic at the Blackburn Ice Arena! * I am bursting with pride this evening after watching our incredible school choir perform at the Let’s Go Sing concert. Seeing them out there, singing their hearts out with such passion, was a moment I won't forget! What struck me most wasn't just the beautiful music, but the sheer enthusiasm and commitment our children showed. They didn't just learn the songs; they mastered every word and every action, performing with huge smiles and brilliant energy. * A Huge Thank You * Events like this don’t happen without a massive team effort behind the scenes: • To Mrs. Govan and Mrs. Wilkinson: Thank you for your tireless dedication, your lunchtime rehearsals, and for championing our young vocalists every step of the way. • To our Parents and Carers: Thank you for braving the cold at the arena to cheer them on! Your support in the stands means the world to the children (and to us). Our children represented the school perfectly tonight, behaving impeccably. They truly found their voices! What little superstars!
Year 6 - Pinocchio Performance
As part of this year’s World Book Day celebrations, our whole school was given the exciting opportunity to perform scenes from Pinocchio. Each year group focused on a different part of the story, working together to bring the tale to life. Year 6 explored the ending section of the story, using expressive dance and dramatic freeze frames to capture the key moments and emotions. Their creative performance helped to conclude the story in a powerful and engaging way, showcasing their teamwork, imagination and understanding of the narrative.
Year 2 Pinocchio Dance Workshop
Year 2 showed off their dancing skills in the Pinocchio Dance Workshop led by West End in Schools. We loved the confidence and enthusiasm they showed during the performance to the whole school.
Year 4 - Pinocchio Dance
The Year 4 children joined in with great enthusiasm during their West End dance session with James on Tuesday. They learned about how dance is a way of telling stories with their bodies. They then worked with James to create some movements to help them to tell a section of the story Pinocchio. At the end of the day, the school came together for a joint performance. Each class in turn came to the front of the hall to perform their part of the story. It was amazing to see every child give their all to their performance.
Year 3-West End Choreography Workshop-Pinocchio
Today, the entire school was buzzing with creativity as we took part in a fantastic West End Workshop based on the story of Pinocchio. Our guest choreographer, James, was absolutely brilliant, bringing the magic of the theatre directly to our pupils. The children focused on rehearsing and perfecting the second half of the story, working hard to synchronise their movements and add expressive actions to their performances. It was truly amazing to see everything come together during our final whole-school assembly, where the narrative was told through a seamless collaborative performance. Year 3 were truly in their element, showing incredible enthusiasm and confidence throughout the day. Well done to everyone!
Drama Club
Drama Club rehearsals are in full swing! We rehearsed our longest, most action packed scene and the children blew us away.
Year 5 - English
Having completed our persuasive letters promoting Fair Trade products, the children had the opportunity to read their letters out loud. The aim was to be as persuasive as possible, using techniques learned from famous speeches of Winston Churchill and Martin Luther King. The children considered how language choice, repetition, pauses, volume and body language can engage an audience and convince people of your argument.
Drama Club: Prop Making
Drama Club has been fantastic these past weeks. All the children have now auditioned and will receive their roles this week. They have been working really hard to create swords and shields for our show telling the story of Troy. Its great to see their enthusiasm and commitment.
