Year 5 - Rothwell Arts Dance
Year 5 had another fantastic session with Rothwell Arts Dance! The children eagerly recapped their previously learned material, showcasing impressive focus and teamwork. They then took on the challenge of completing round-offs, working hard to perfect their technique and form. The session was filled with energy and excitement, as each child grew more confident in their movements, preparing for even more complex routines in the future!
Reception celebrate Interfaith Week
Reception class were lucky enough to meet Prags who delivered a wonderful workshop exploring Hinduism. We learned about the story of Rama and Sita and we even got to dress up in traditional Indian clothing and dance together. We also enjoyed eating delicious samosas cooked by Prags! It was a great way to learn about a different religion and culture. Thank you so much for visiting.
Sportshall Athletics Club
Tonight we started our first Sportshall Athletics Club. We practised various events including lap sprints, javelin, long jump and specialist obstacle skills such as the tunnel. The children worked hard to develop their agility and speed.
Year 6 Golden Time
After showing so much respect and gratitude at the Remembrance Service, Year 6 were rewarded with an early golden time on the new play area in Whitehall Park. It was wonderful to see them all having fun and getting along with each through comprising and waiting patiently. They also took risks and pushed themselves out of their comfort zone and it was great to hear them encouraging each other. Well done Year 6!
Year 2- P.E- Bouncing, throwing and catching a soft ball.
This week in PE, we continued progress in our ball handling skills. This week, we began dribbling in different directions and different speeds. We also incorporated a chest pass and catching with our partners.
Year 4 Street Dance - Session 2
In our second street dance lesson, Jess asked us if we could remember what moves we had covered in the previous week. This included; bounce, rock, ripple, Smurf and happy feet. Today we added Bart Simpson and then moved into our work on canons. We split into two groups and created a routine of Smurf, push, drop, canon and windmill. The children were super enthusiastic and listened carefully to each instruction that Jess gave them. Every week it’s wonderful to see them incorporating more moves to develop their final piece.
Edstart Jag Tag Festival
What a fantastic opportunity we had today in taking part in the Edstart Jag Tag Festival at Soccerdome. In the morning session, the children developed their skills and game tactics and then this afternoon they played games against other schools that were attending the festival. Team B showed great respect, encouragement and passion in every game and came away with a MVP ( Most Valued Player) in every single game with super results : Game 1 - 18-0 WIN vs St Oswalds MVP - Freddy Game 2- 20-6 WIN vs St Matthew’s MVP - Matthew Game 3 - 18-2 WIN St Anthony’s MVP Brooke Huge thanks to all of the coaches from Edstart , the other schools and support staff.
Year 5 - Dance
Year 5 had an amazing time in Rothwell Arts dance session, showcasing a range of gymnastic and dance skills. They practiced cartwheels, rolls, bench work, handstands, and impressive balances, building confidence and coordination along the way. The session challenged them to work on technique and control, while also encouraging teamwork and creativity. Their energy and enthusiasm shone through with every move!
Year 5 - Cricket
Year 5 enjoyed their final cricket session, showing off the skills they’ve developed over the term. From quick catches to accurate throws, everyone demonstrated fantastic teamwork and enthusiasm. A great end to a fun season of cricket!
WOW Year Group Winners for October
A huge WELL DONE to Year 4 who gained the most walk to school badges for the month of October! It was great to see so many more children gaining their badges this month now we can take part in school through choosing to do the 1K A Day too. Thank you to parents and carers too for all of your support with this super initiative.
Reception: Muddy Monday
Today for Reception’s Muddy Monday session, the children walked to Jacks Key. To celebrate bonfire night, the children collected twigs, sticks and leaves to create their own bonfires. The children had to work together as a team and did a brilliant job.
Reception: Developing our Gross Motor Skills
Today our Reception children challenged themselves to climb trees. They used their muscles in their tummies, arms and legs to help them to safely climb the trees. Some of the children swang on the branches and balanced too. Well done for being so brave!
