Year 1- DT
Year 1 have been working so hard on their fire engines this week. They have been sawing and painting. We've been so busy and our room has been super messy, but we can't wait to show you the final product!
Year 5 - D.T- Exploring different ways to create a fastening
The children in Year 5 have been exploring different ways of fastening that could be used for their cushions. They have investigated the advantages and disadvantages of different ways and have concluded after practising that the envelope fold and whole button fasteners are far more functional than the others.
Year 3 D.T: Designing our Christmas Photo Frames!
The class have been busy this week in D.T, designing their own Christmas Photo Frames, to make and sell at the Christmas Fair! We thought about the different materials that we will be using to make our frames and how our frame is going to be free standing. The children also identified who their photo frame is going to be made for and their overall design. Every design is slightly different, and the children cannot wait to get started with making their frames, over the next couple of weeks.
Year 3 D.T: Investigating ways of making free-standing structures.
This week in Design Technology, the class looked at different ways to make a free-standing structure. In groups, the children had a variety of different materials and had to work together, to make a particular structure. We discussed how to make a successful structure and the different techniques we can use, to stable and strengthen a structure.
Year 1- DT
Last week in DT we had a look at all the equipment we needed to create our own fire engines. Today we designed our fire engines ready to create them next week! We can't wait to show you our finished product
Year 2 - Design technology
Year 2 food tasting in design technology. As part of our unit we are making fruit kebabs to sell at our Christmas Fair. We have tasted a variety of different fruits and vegetables to see what we like and what we did not like in order to begin to build our fruit kebabs.
Reception: Birthday Celebration
Today, the children in Reception read Kipper’s birthday. We looked at what happens at a party and the importance of a birthday invitation. They found out why it is important to have the correct number of candles on a cake. The children are preparing for a toy party on Friday by creating necklaces, crowns and cakes.
Year 3 DT: Strengthening Paper
As part of our Photo Frames unit in DT, Year 3 have been exploring different ways of strengthening paper, by using rolling, folding and twisting techniques.
Reception: All About Autumn
This week, the children are learning all about Autumn. They have been very busy in provision creating Autumn faces, hedgehogs and trees. They’ve also been counting different Autumn pictures and matching it to the correct numeral.
DT - Christmas Stockings - Explore and Analyse
Today in Year 4 we started our new DT unit - Christmas Stockings. We have been learning about how stockings were introduced, exploring different examples and analysing what makes a hood stocking focusing on design and function.
Year 1 - DT
This afternoon year 1 have been exploring wheels, chassis’s and axles in our DT lesson. We are looking forward to putting all of our skills together to create our own fire engines in a couple of weeks.
Reception: Remembrance Art
The children in Reception have been practising their expressive arts and design skills. They have been joining materials to create poppies in the malleable area and have been selecting the correct colours to accurately paint poppies. The children were able to explain why we wear poppies.
