Reception- Painting the snow with water colours
Whilst the children were junk modelling using water coloured paints, they came up with an idea of painting the snow with the water colours. We decided to get stuck into some child initiated play. The children had so much fun decorating the snow and becoming artists, mixing colours to make new ones and making pictures and patterns on a different texture.
Year 1 Art- Creating Lines
This week in art, Year 1, have been exploring and creating different types of lines. They have been looking at the direction in which a line can be drawn (vertically, horizontally and diagonally) and how we can draw various types of lines such as straight, curved, wavy or broken. Having this understanding of line is going to support them to create interesting pieces of artwork in the style of Friedrich Hundertwasser.
Year 3- Art- Making a Mood Board
Year 3 budding artists created their mood boards today, using a selection of items. Through this activity, they expressed their personalities and showcased what was important to them. Their choices included pictures of their families, symbols representing their favourite sports or hobbies, images of their role models, and drawings or stickers of school-related themes. Some even added items representing their love for nature, like leaves, flowers, or favourite colours and patterns. They were also able to explain their choices and the significance behind them, sharing what makes each aspect meaningful to them.
Reception: Challenge Champions
This week in Reception, we are focusing on the story, Sharing a Shell. The children have been really busy in provision completing challenges. They have been attempting to write sentences, strengthening their muscles in the fine motor area, creating rockpools, drawing fish, painting using the skills of Pointillism, counting shells to play a subitise game and moulding the playdough to create different characters from the story. Well done!
Reception: Junk Modelling
Our Reception class have really enjoyed our new junk modelling area. They have been using their imaginations to create dens, treasure boxes, jewellery boxes, post boxes and bags. They have joined materials together and embellished their items.
Year 2 - Artwork in Whitehall Park
We had a lovely afternoon in Whitehall Park. We walked to the Rose Garden to look at the amazing artwork being displayed there. Children from across school, have put lots of effort into making beautiful pieces of artwork for the public to enjoy. It was lovely to see a few pieces from Year 2! We also had time for a Advent quiz linked to the artwork.
Year 2 - Christmas Cards
Year 2 enjoyed make our Christmas cards for our chosen loved ones. We created a starry night background box mixing paints. Then we added a Christmas image of their choice to the front. They all looked brilliant and I’m sure who ever receives them will love them!
Year 1- Christmas Cards
Year 1 have made some beautiful cards to gift to their loved ones this Christmas. I’m sure you’ll agree that they look absolutely fabulous and will bring a huge smile to the faces of those who receive them. Well done Year 1!
Year 3- Art- Making Christmas cards
After class worship and learning about the importance of sharing joy, the children decided to make hanging Christmas cards for their loved ones. They thoughtfully chose their favourite colours and designs, using strips of sugar paper to decorate their cards by sticking them diagonally across a Christmas tree shape. Each card was created with care and contained a beautiful message for their loved ones, making them truly meaningful gifts.
Whitehall Park Rose Garden Art Trail
Thank you to all the children who created fantastic Art work for our ADVENTure trail at the Whitehall Park. A selection of the Art work is now on display in the Rose Garden for everyone to see. All classes will be visiting next week to look at the Art work, talk about the Nativity story and sing some Christmas carols to get us all in the festive spirit!
Reception - Christmas Challenges
Reception have enjoyed completing a range of Christmas challenges this week during their choosing time. They have been using strips of paper in the creative area to make Christmas tree pictures, ordering the gingerbread men from smallest to biggest, following instructions to draw a snowman and developing their fine motor painting skills.

Whole School- Design Technolgy
This half term, our students have been busy creating a range of designs in Design Technology. From Reception's wooden Christmas decorations to Year 6's electronic steady hand games, our children have showcased their imaginative and creativity skills. Year 1 brought their imaginations to life, creating interactive moving storybooks using slider mechanisms. Year 2 developed their sewing skills, designing and creating a range of Christmas puppets. Year 3 designed and made festive pouches, perfect for holding small gifts or treats. Year 4 stitched up Christmas stockings, ready to hang by the chimney, finally, Year 5 created festive cushions. These creations were showcased and sold at our Christmas Fayre. We're incredibly proud of the hard work and imagination our students have demonstrated in these festive DT projects.
