Reception: Exploring Autumn
This week, Reception have been finding out all about Autumn. They have learnt all about what happens in Autumn and have learnt some new vocabulary too: deciduous and evergreen. Super learning!
Reception: Muddy Monday
Today, the children went to Whitehall park. They enjoyed looking for signs of Autumn. Everybody found a conker and we explored the different colours of Autumnal leaves. The children enjoyed throwing leaves in the air and also climbed under and over a fallen tree.
Reception Maths
Today, the children have been exploring different ways of making a number. We were blown away by their knowledge and how they explored how to represent different numbers.
Hello Yellow Day 2021
We have had a brilliant day in school today with all of our children and staff dressing in yellow for Hello Yellow Day. It was topped off with leaving school dancing to the minions ‘happy’ song and being bopped with inflatable bananas by Mrs Ham! Banana #HelloYellow @YoungMindsUK
Reception say 'hello yellow'!
Reception loved our ‘Hello Yellow’ day and enjoyed designing their own ‘worry eggs’ - the children took these home to use when they are feeling worried to share their feelings. #HelloYellow2021 @YoungMindsUK
Reception: Exploring our differences in RE
During RE, we have been looking into how God has made us all special and unique. The children were able to discuss and understand what makes us all different. Hair colour, eye colour, and skin colour were the main differences in which the children could identify. However, after looking very closely at our palms through magnifying glasses, the children could see how we all had different hand and thumb prints which make us even more special to our God.
Reception Owl Visit
The children in Reception had a very special visit this afternoon. They met 4 different owls. The children saw burrowing owls, a barn owl and a screech owl called Tyler, Midge, JD and Bobby. The children found their brave and held the owls. They also got to feel an owl feather and watch the owls fly. The children were so polite and well behaved during the visit. A big thank you to SMJ Falconry.
A very ‘Muddy Monday’ in Reception
Today, our Ducklings went on their first ‘Muddy Monday’ adventure in the local area. We explored Jack Keys reservoir. The children walked all of the way around the reservoir which took just over an hour. We were extremely impressed with how they showed our Christian values. They took risks, showed resilience and courage throughout the adventure. The children got stuck in the mud, splashed in muddy puddles and enjoyed climbing and balancing along the way! What a super start to the week!
Aliens have landed in Reception!
An alien called Zap landed in Reception this week. The alien wrote a letter to the children and told them that he was lonely. We have thought about what makes a good friend and created our own alien friends. The children have made aliens using foam and have named and described them, they have painted aliens and created 2D shape aliens! Our Ducklings are really enjoying reading the story ‘Aliens love underpants’ too.
Reception Elmer and friends
This week we have shared the story of 'Elmer.' The children have been very busy participating in different Elmer related activities. They have enjoyed making Elmer collages, colouring different elephant patterns and making elephant playdough!
Reception Our Feelings
This week, Reception have been focussing on the book 'The Colour Monster.' We have been looking at how the colour monster changes colour when he feels a different emotion. The children have enjoyed expressing their feelings too!
