Rock and River- Year 3 Conquer the Air Bag Jump
Year 3 showed incredible courage today as they took on the Air Bag Jump. It was a huge challenge, but the children were so brave as they stepped up to the edge. The cheering from the ground helped everyone find the confidence to 'give it a go.

Year 3: Adventure, Teamwork, and Fantastic Spirit
What a spectacular day for Year 3! Whether they were soaring on the zip line, scaling the climbing towers, or finding their balance on the low ropes, every child showed immense bravery. The river was a major highlight, with everyone splashing into canoeing and paddleboarding, while the airbag jump provided the ultimate test of nerves. Beyond the adrenaline, the children were fantastic ambassadors for the school. They showed great manners throughout the day and took real pride in tidying up after lunch, leaving the site exactly as they found it. Throughout every challenge, the children never stopped encouraging one another and cheering for their peers. It was a day filled with respect and brilliant teamwork. A huge thank you to Mrs Singleton and Miss Gregson for supporting the children every step of the way. Well done, Year 3!
Whole School Worship - One Way Giving
In this whole school collective worship, we developed our understanding of one way giving. Our Year 6 heads and deputies began by sharing what each class did for our Hop, Skip and Jump event. Jacqui, a representative from East Lancs Hospice came to award us with participation certificates and to reveal that we raised a fantastic £357 during our event. Thank you to all our children and parents for your support. Mrs Ham then shared this week’s One Way Giving kindness kite. Three of our KS2 children volunteered to read the sections of the kite and we learned that the Bible says we should give in secret and God will reward us. After this, we watched a cartoon of the event when Jesus turned water into wine at the wedding in Canaan. He secretly asked the servants to fill the jars with water and turned it into wine. The master of ceremonies tasted the wine and approved it to be a very good wine thinking it was provided by the groom. The groom received the praise, and only the servants and God knew that Jesus had performed this miracle. This was a great example of one way giving. Finally, Mrs Ham and Mr Bloomfield put up our new Widgit symbols, with the help of our children, on our Big Frieze to help the children understand God’s Big Story.
Ocean Awareness with the Marine Conservation Society
Today, we were joined by Lorna from the Marine Conservation Society for a brilliant session. The children explored the wonders of our Ocean while learning about serious challenges such as climate change, overfishing, and ocean pollution. A particularly memorable moment was learning that sea turtles often mistake floating plastic bags for jellyfish, their favourite food, highlighting the dangers of litter. Lorna inspired the children to think creatively about waste, showing them how to repurpose plastic items, such as turning old milk gallons into birds or bird feeders. The children loved sharing their favourite things about the sea, and to help us keep learning, Lorna mentioned that there are plenty of fantastic free resources available on their website to explore at home or in class.
Times Tables - April Battle Week Winners
Our KS2 children have been really stepping it up with their times tables practice lately and we couldn’t be prouder. They’ve racked up THOUSANDS of correct answers between them, resulting in one of our biggest point-scoring battles yet. A huge congratulations to this month’s winners: Piper-Jo in Year 3, Lottie in Year 4, Charlie in Year 5 and Charlie in Year 6. And to our class champions, Year 4 taking the LKS2 trophy and Year 6 taking the UKS2 trophy. May’s battle will be slightly different with the children requesting a boys vs. girls battle. Times Table Rockstar Champions
A huge well done to our Times table Rockstar champions, who battled it out to take first place in their classes! An incredible 121 children took part, achieving a fantastic total of over 181,000 correct answers, a truly brilliant effort by everyone involved. A special congratulations goes to our winners: Piper-Jo – Year 3 Lottie – Year 4 Charlie – Year 5 Charlie – Year 6 What an amazing achievement, we are so proud of you all!
Year 3 Present Their Learning: Rules For Living to Year 6
Today, Year 3 showed incredible oracy skills by presenting their learning to Year 6. They have been exploring the importance of rules in different parts of life, including our school rules, the law, and how faith guides people through the Ten Commandments. Using what they learned, the children wrote their own "Rule Poems." They worked hard on their writing, making sure to include: Modal verbs (like should or must) to show how important the rules are. Imperative verbs (bossy words like respect, listen, or help) to give clear instructions. The children were amazing and very brave to stand up in front of the older students. Mr Bloomfield even commented on how confident and clear everyone was while speaking. It was a wonderful way to see them use their voices to share such important messages about being good citizens!
Year 3 - Science Investigators: Testing Friction!
In Science, the children worked in small groups to investigate friction. Using ramps and various materials, they tested how different surfaces affect how far a car or object travels. It was great to see them making predictions and working together to see which surfaces created the most friction and which were the smoothest.
Year 3- PSHE- Can Harold afford it?
Today, Miss Gregson delivered an insightful lesson to the class titled "Can Harold Afford It?" focusing on building economic literacy and digital resilience. The session began by exploring the children’s wishes, with many mentioning items they would buy if they could afford them, such as a phone, a PlayStation, a fish tank, new clothes, or a holiday. Miss Gregson helped the children distinguish between "wishes" and "needs," challenging the class to identify essential household costs, such as food, furniture, and electricity bills, that families must prioritise. The children then applied these concepts to help Harold the Giraffe, who wanted a £150 bike but only had £20 in his money box. By calculating Harold’s "income" and expenses, the class discussed the importance of saving up for bigger items and even suggested eco-friendly options like buying a second-hand bike to save money and protect the environment. Additionally, the lesson touched on the financial risks of online gaming, teaching the children that virtual items like skins and gems cost real money and that it is important to avoid being rushed into spending decisions.
Mad Science Club- The Light Fantastic
Today in the Mad Science after-school club, our junior scientists stepped into the brilliant world of physics for a "Light Fantastic" session! They became masters of the electromagnetic spectrum, starting with the discovery that LASER is actually an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. The children explored the concept of refraction by bending light beams through different materials and went on a hunt for "invisible" energy using UV light to make hidden colors fluoresce.
Year 3- Class Worship-Celebrating St. George’s Day
For today's class worship, we learned about the significance of St. George’s Day. We discussed the patron saint's history and the values of bravery and kindness he represents. The children engaged in a thoughtful discussion about fairness and unfairness, exploring what it means to act with integrity. We linked these ideas to the Bible’s teachings on how we should treat others with kindness, respect, and equality. Elijah, read the prayer for the whole class.
