Year 4 - Safer Internet Day: Cyber bullying
In Year 4, we spent Safer Internet Day focussing on a very common issue that many of our school family will probably experience as their internet usage increases: cyber bullying. The topic was introduced to the children sensitively with a look at what cyber bullying may look like. As a class, we read some hypothetical scenarios of unkind messages and shared how we thought the recipient might have felt. We then shared some examples of advice we could give to someone affected by cyber bullying. The children realised that there is a subtle difference between messages aimed at hurting others and those that can be misconstrued. The children were introduced to three options for resolving an issue: block, ignore and tell a trusted adult. They developed skills to help them think critically about what they see online.

If selected in the national competition, the badge will then be made for a month in next year’s campaign.

Whole School- Safer Internet Day 2026-Centered on the responsible use of AI.
To mark Safer Internet Day 2026, Mrs Araujo led a special Worship centered on the responsible use of AI. The session started with the Heads and Deputy Heads signing the Trinity. The children then watched a short video and discussed how AI can assist us in our daily lives. Through a fun identification game, pupils practised spotting AI-generated images and learned that because AI can make mistakes, its results are not always true or accurate. This helped our children understand the importance of being cautious and informed digital citizens.
NSPCC Times Tables Rock Star Challenge
Today, Key Stage 2 battled it out on Times Table Rock Stars as part of the NSPCC challenge. Thanks to everyone for their great effort in dressing in numbers or as rock stars. A huge well done to all pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 for your amazing effort, resilience and competitive spirit. Year 4 - National Storytelling Week Activities
In celebration of National Storytelling Week, our Year 4 class took part in a live webinar about rap and using rhythm and poetry to tell stories. The children loved joining in with the rhymes and actions, and sharing their ideas. We also had a mystery reader come to visit. We want to say a huge thank you to Mr Foy for coming in to share a special book, Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes. He read three of the twisted fairy tales and the children thoroughly enjoyed these silly and gruesome stories.
Year 4 - RE: Transfiguration Art
Following on from the children’s study of the Transfiguration, this week in RE, the children looked at a selection of artworks representing Jesus’ transfiguration and used these to gather ideas in groups. They then created their own transfiguration art in chalks on the playground. Each group was able to point out Jesus, Moses, Elijah and the disciples, and they could explain how they portrayed Jesus’ divinity through the use of shapes, symbols and colours.
Year 4 - Science: Water Pollution
Our lively Year 4s relished the chance to become news readers in science this week. The children learned about different types of water pollution and how each type can have harmful effects on living things. Their task was to take the information they had learned and then work in groups to write a short report on an instance of water pollution and its effects. To finish, each group reported their water pollution news story to the rest of the class.
Year 4 - Class Worship: Jesus Helps People
Continuing the 100 years of Blackburn Diocese, our class worship this week focussed on how Jesus helped people and the importance of taking the time to listen. The children took part in a short quiz, learned about books, chapters and verses in the Bible, and they acted out the story of Martha. They learned about how Jesus taught people to avoid distracting themselves with unimportant tasks and take the time to listen to God’s word. The children then shared times when they have truly felt listened to and we added some examples to our second kindness kite.
