KS2 participated in another exciting training session today, where they continued to develop their football skills. We discussed how time conjunctions help us to order events in this case the events in our story ‘Caterpillar Shoes’. The children identified appropriate time conjunctions and then began to use them to retell our story.

Year 1 PE-Gymnastics

This afternoon in gymnastics, Year 1 revisited the travel (caterpillar walk), roll (pencil roll) and jump (straight jump) that they were practising last lesson. They then moved on to learning a new way of travelling (bunny hop) and jumping (tuck jump) and practised these by bunny hopping across a bench and tuck jumping off.

Year 4 - Cricket: Overarm Bowling

The Year 4 class loved their first cricket session with the specialist coach. This week, they developed the skill of bowling overarm, which they demonstrated with great technique. There are certainly some budding cricketers in Year 4. The lesson finished the with a few rounds of cricket and a chance for the children to apply their new skills.

Year 4 - Writing Metaphors in Poetry

We are currently studying similes and metaphors in free-form poetry and, today, we started writing our own poems. We used images, word banks and oral rehearsal to create metaphors about the Amazon rainforest. Our finished poems will be entered into a poetry competition with a chance of them being published.

Year 3- French- Emotive language-Comment Ca Va'

During French with Junior Jam, the children revisited their previous learning, practising phrases like "How many?" and "How old are you?" in French. Today, they learned how to ask "How are you?" in different ways, expanding their vocabulary. They were brilliant and showed great progress with their French-speaking skills.

In computing, the children revisited their previous learning of keyboard skills. Today, they explored the function of a verse in a pop song and examined the key characteristics that make up a song. They were having an absolute blast, fully engaged and enjoying every moment of the lesson!

Year 5 - Evaporation and Filtering

Today, Year 5 engaged in hands-on experiments as part of their science unit on Reversible and Irreversible changes. They explored the process of evaporation by observing a solution being heated and noting how the liquid gradually turned into vapor. Additionally, the children were tasked with filtering different mixtures, discovering which substances could be separated through filtration and which could not. These activities helped them understand the differences between reversible and irreversible processes, while developing their practical scientific skills.

This morning, Year 5 had the exciting opportunity to learn from a professional cricket coach. The session introduced the children to key cricket techniques such as bowling, batting, fielding, and team coordination. Children also explored the overall tactics and rules of the game, building both their skills and understanding. The children demonstrated great effort and teamwork throughout the session, which culminated in a series of competitive games where they could apply what they had learned.

Rev Ben’s Worship: God the Rescuer

Rev Ben came in today to talk about rescuers. He began with a dressing up challenge in which 2 teams had to create their own superhero. Mind Reader won the most votes as the best superhero. Rev Ben linked this to a great rescuer from the Bible: Moses. He told us about God recruiting Moses to talk the Pharaoh into setting his people free. It was a difficult task but, with God’s help, he achieved it. The children spent some time thinking about what made Moses a rescuer and what made Jesus the ultimate rescuer.
