Understanding KS2 SATs
As you are aware the 2017 KS2 SATs were taken by Year 6 children in May and they assessed the new more challenging national curriculum which was introduced in 2014 (when your children entered year 4). Results are no longer reported in levels. Instead each pupil now receives their test results as a scaled score and teacher assessments are based on the standards on the interim framework issued by the Department for Education.
On 4th July the Department for Education published the following provisional national attainment data. This will help you to understand the performance of our academy in relation to the national picture.
St Barnabas: 82% of children reached the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths combined
Nationally: 61% of children reached the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths.
This means that our children are achieving at 21% above national figures in Reading, Writing and Maths.
